ETP 'Food for Life' newsletter issue 12
Welcome

Dr. Michael Knowles

Dear Colleagues,

In reading this ETP 'Food for Life' newsletter, I hope you'll agree with me that we've made significant progress since we communicated with you last year, not least that we successfully made our case for recognition under the new Commission strategy for ETP's. We're urged by the Commission to increase collaboration and that is underway with our NTP / Mirror Group joint meeting on 2 September, with WssTP and other ETP's,  the JPI's, the EIP and more to come! We have to work to get the 'Food KIC' in place in 2016 and see if there are opportunities in the new KIC 'Healthy living and Active Ageing' and last but not least, we're well represented on the Bioeconomy Panel by Mrs. Beate Kettlitz (Food Policy, Science and R&D Director at FoodDrinkEurope)!

It looks like we have a busy time ahead of us!

Enjoy this issue!

ETP 'Food for Life' Highlights
'Food for Life' recognised as a ETP under the ETP2020 Strategy

We are very pleased to announce that the European Commission has recognised ‘Food for Life’ as a European Technology Platform under the rules of the new “Strategy For European Technology Platforms: ETP 2020”.

According to thE strategy the “European Technology Platforms will be a key element in the European innovation ecosystem and will help turn Europe into an Innovation Union”. As such, the ETP 2020 aims to guarantee that, ETPs have a holistic view “identifying the pathway to commercial deployment of research, provide strategic insights into market opportunities and needs, and mobilise and network innovation actors across the EU in order to enable European companies gain a competitive advantage in global markets”.

This is an important recognition of our ETP and ‘Food for Life’ team, which is committed to continue to contribute to the food and drink sector competitiveness and Europe’s growth.
